After flying high against the Water Valley Blue Devils last Tuesday, the Bruce Trojans came back down to earth. Bruce had to suffer through a rough 85-57 loss at the hands of Calhoun City. Bruce has struggled against Calhoun City recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Bruce lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ashton Pierce. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Pierce hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Kobe Hooper, who scored seven points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Bruce's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. Bruce won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Palmer at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Bruce is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. Calhoun City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
