It was a good run, but New Albany unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Brownstown Central Braves, falling 3-0. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Braves from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
New Albany was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Brownstown Central work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 28-26, 25-11, 25-15.
Despite the loss, New Albany still got an impressive performance from Kinley Bush, who had 16 digs and three assists.
Brownstown Central had a senior duo take command as Sophie Wischmeier had 15 kills, nine digs, and three aces and Finley Wheeler had three digs and one block. Wischmeier is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Olivia Fritz was another key player, getting ten digs and two aces.
The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 5-2. As for Brownstown Central, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Looking ahead, New Albany will challenge Bedford North Lawrence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brownstown Central, they will face off against Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
