Hoover's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Lincoln County.
Gabe Blackwell looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Braydon Bounds was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Wayne had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past Tug Valley 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted against the Panthers since April 1, 2022.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Thompson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Logan Prater, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
