Foothill is 0-4 against Fairfield since March of 2024 but things could change on Wednesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Fairfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Foothill, who comes in off a win.
Foothill will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Armijo on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 22-3 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 11 runs or more this season.

Mercede Averett was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Julianne Esquibel was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Vaca, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
West Campus hit Fairfield with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons lost 11-1 to the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.
Karli Robinson put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and eight unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Robinson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Foothill's record now sits at 7-3. As for Fairfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Fairfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Foothill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .423. It's a different story for Fairfield, though, as they've only averaged .237. Will they be able to contain Foothill's hitters?
Foothill couldn't quite finish off Fairfield in their previous matchup back in March and fell 5-3. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
