Barnesville took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Cambridge by a score of 8-4.
Ella Betts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Barnesville's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Abygail Ady, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Monroe Central hadn't beaten Caldwell on the road since May 8, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Seminoles put the hurt on the Redskins with a sharp 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Seminoles, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Monroe Central got a massive performance out of Kennadi Jorris, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee McFredrick, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Monroe Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2025.
Barnesville's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Monroe Central, their record is now 9-2.
Barnesville suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Monroe Central in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Shamrocks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
