Daron Bland returned two interceptions for scores as
Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) won its fourth consecutive CIF Bowl Championship with a resounding 55-21 win over
San Marino at Sacramento State Saturday.
Rice scored on runs of 17 and 38 yards and Bland recorded pick-sixes of 43 and 39 yards as the Raiders tied De La Salle for the most consecutive bowl game titles.
"It's amazing that a school of 360 comes to work every day and wins four state titles in a row," Central Catholic coach Roger Canepa told the Modesto Bee. "Going 16-0 and going through VOL, playing the teams we've played this year, it's special. We showed so much heart."
It wasn't easy.

In the first meeting between 15-0 California teams, San Marino cut the Central Catholic lead to 21-14 on a
Mark Wicke 1-yard run with 17 seconds left in the second quarter.
The Raiders scored four unanswered touchdowns, all by Rice and Bland.
"In the second half, we said 'Hey, we didn't come this far to keep this game that close,' " Canepa said. "Everybody had a great game. It's special because it doesn't happen that much. We've done something only De La Salle has done."
Montell Bland, cousin of Daron, added 91 yards rushing and a touchdown and quarterback
Hunter Petlansky added touchdown passes of 22 and 34 yards to his brother
Cole Petlansky and 34 yards to
Luke Navarro. Hunter Petlansky also added a 17-yard TD run to start the scoring.
San Marino (15-1) passed for 317 yards between two quarterbacks and had a big game from
J.P. Shohfi (eight catches, 197 yards). But the Huskies couldn't contain the Raiders, who finished with 418 yards.
