Baseball Recap: Oxford Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

While Oxford put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Boaz. The Oxford Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Boaz Pirates with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Colton Parten, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Boaz off the board. Those nine strikeouts gave Parten a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Oxford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Richardson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Richardson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Marcus Lawler was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Oxford has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. Boaz's loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Oxford will face off against Glenbrook South at 4:00 p.m. on March 26th. As for Boaz, they will be playing at home against Crossville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boaz is facing Crossville at the right time seeing as Crossville is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
