The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Schaeffer Academy Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Kenyon-Wanamingo has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Schaeffer Academy will arrive with five straight victories.
Kenyon-Wanamingo suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Waterville-Elysian-Morristown by a score of 63-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, even though Mabel-Canton scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, Schaeffer Academy still came out on top. Schaeffer Academy secured a 60-55 W over Mabel-Canton. Schaeffer Academy's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Kenyon-Wanamingo's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Schaeffer Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-8.
Kenyon-Wanamingo strolled past Schaeffer Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a score of 81-66. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kenyon-Wanamingo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
