After a string of four wins, Biggs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hamilton Braves. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Skyler Long, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Long has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Smith, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and six assists.
Even though they lost, Biggs was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton only posted six assists.
Hamilton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Case Porter out in front who posted 22 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Strong, who scored 16 points.
Biggs' defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Hamilton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
Biggs will square off against Portola at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Portola's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches. As for Hamilton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-29 loss against Durham on the 18th.
