Basketball Recap: Harlee Hill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southwestern over Austin

Southwestern lost against Austin back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southwestern Rebels fell to the Austin Eagles 62-56. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Eagles are ranked 57th).

Southwestern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harlee Hill, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Hill has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Baleigh McAfee, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Southwestern was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Austin only posted five assists.

Brynn Owens continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Austin, putting up 25 points along with seven boards and five assists. The contest was Owens' 24th in a row with at least ten points.

Southwestern's record is now 14-8. As for Austin, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.

Southwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-44 victory against Jac-Cen-Del on the 30th. As for Austin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-24 win against Salem on the 30th.
