Kinston had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Slocomb Red Tops as the Kinston Bulldogs made off with an 11-0 win. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 victory the Red Tops walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.
Lilli Sumblin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only a hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Sumblin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Allyx Williamson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brynne Kelley, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
