Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
A.J. Robinson of
Windsor is the 2025 MaxPreps Connecticut High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound senior quarterback led the Warriors to a 12-1 record and Class MM state title, the school's first since 2014.
For the season, Robinson threw for 3,647 yards and 50 touchdowns against just three interceptions. He added 66 carries for 366 yards and 11 more scores. His passing yardage total was the second-highest in state history while his 50 touchdown passes were good for No. 3.
Robinson finished his career as the state's fourth-leading passer with 8,636 yards, breaking Tanner Kingsley's state record of 113 passing touchdowns with 120.
In a 23-13 win over Bunnell (Stratford) in the state championship game, Robinson did most of his damage with his legs, running 15 times for 90 yards and two scores. He also completed 13 of 24 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Robinson threw for 322 yards and six touchdowns in a 61-0 win over Plainfield (Central Village) in the opening round of the playoffs.
In a 41-26 win over South Windsor during the regular season, Robinson completed 18 of 25 passes for a season-high 352 yards and five touchdowns. It was one of six games he threw for at least five touchdowns.
Robinson signed with Central Connecticut State University earlier this month.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
