The Perry Panthers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past Stephenson with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-20. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Perry's seven-point performance the game before.
It was another big night for Ahmad Gordon, who rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Colter Ginn was another key contributor, throwing for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Stephenson still got an impressive performance from Devin Ingram, who rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory (which was Perry's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2. As for Stephenson, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-3.
Perry will head out on the road to face off against Starr's Mill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Starr's Mill will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Stephenson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
