Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Yoakum Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Lorena 45-7 on Thursday. Yoakum has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
It was another big night for Braylon Henry, who rushed for 191 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Henry is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Blaze Smedshammer also helped out as he racked up 127 rushing yards.
Lorena's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Seth Taverner and his two sacks.
Yoakum's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.3 points per game. As for Lorena, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Yoakum does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lorena will take on Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th.
