King City/Union Star were fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Northwest 86-22. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 62-22.
Senior Collin Breckenridge, who rushed for 155 yards and 4 touchdowns, was a major factor in the success. Senior Hunter Abney was in the mix, too, providing King City/Union Star with 3 touchdowns.
Northwest's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Rylan Chamberlin, who caught passes for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior Connor Tichenor was in the mix, too, providing they with 3 touchdowns. The contest pushed them down to 0-2 and pulled King City/Union Star up to the reverse 2-0.
Next week, King City/Union Star take on Stanberry at 7:00 PM. Northwest will look to defend their home turf next week against Kansas City East Christian Academy at 7:00 PM.
