The St. Paul Wildcats lost against the Wood River Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. St. Paul fell to Wood River 53-48. St. Paul has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, St. Paul still got an impressive performance from Gracie Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Kelley scored a full 43.8% of St. Paul's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katlyn Oakley, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Leading Wood River to victory were Macie Peters and Ellie Morgan. Peters scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists, while Morgan scored 18 points. Sidney Frear was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
St. Paul now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Wood River, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
St. Paul will head out on the road to face off against Adams Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wood River will be home for the holidays to greet Blue Hill on Friday.
