Omaha Westside and Millard North are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. Both teams will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Omaha Westside is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Saturday, Omaha Westside was able to grind out a solid victory over Papillion-LaVista South, taking the game 51-44.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin Stubblefield, who scored 18 points. Stubblefield has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rickey Loftin, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Millard North is ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Chaminade. Millard North came out on top against Chaminade by a score of 63-50. The success was a return to things as normal for Millard North, who in their previous outing suffered a shocking 79-74 upset defeat to Curie.
Millard North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Neal Mosser led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Mosser is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Derek Rollins was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Omaha Westside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Millard North, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Omaha Westside strolled past Millard North when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 69-52. Will Omaha Westside repeat their success, or does Millard North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
