The Colony Knights will take on the Chugiak Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Colony comes in on three and Chugiak on six.
Colony is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: West Anchorage, who was ranked 14th at the time (Colony was ranked 11th). The Knights blew past the Eagles 10-1 on Monday. The Knights not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 12-3).
Clay Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Colony: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Easton Cook was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Colony's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-0-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cody Otto, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, Chugiak narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Eagle River 10-9.
Owen McNeil made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Ethan Atkinson and Sampson Young did most of the damage at the plate: Atkinson went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run, while Young went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those five RBI gave Atkinson a new career-high. Cole Lux was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Colony's victory bumped their record up to 5-7-1. As for Chugiak, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Colony has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chugiak struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Colony skirted past Chugiak 5-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
