The Del Oro Golden Eagles will head out to face off against the Jesuit Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for Del Oro after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost to Folsom at home by a 35-20 margin. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked tenth).
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Nolen Sauve and Ryder Lyons. Lyons had a great game and threw for 321 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt. Meanwhile, Sauve did his best for the losing side, rushing for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 136 yards on 13 of 27 attempts.
Even if they lost, Del Oro's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Finn Burth was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, Jesuit earned a 24-14 win over Oak Ridge on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marauders.
Jesuit found their leader in sophomore Kwanna Smith, who rushed for 71 yards and one score on only eight carries. Luke De Lyser was in the mix as well, providing the Marauders with one TD.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Jesuit proved: they limited Oak Ridge to a paltry three yards per carry. The team can thank Jace Bassett for the heroic effort on defense: he. Jesuit didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.8.
Jesuit's record is now 5-2. As for Del Oro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Del Oro suffered a grim 34-14 defeat to Jesuit in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Golden Eagles, Jack Patock (who rushed for 111 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
