Valley Mills hasn't had much luck against Bosqueville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Valley Mills 2, Bosqueville 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Bosqueville will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Valley Mills extended their winning streak to four on Friday. Valley Mills came out on top against Jonesboro by a score of 7-2.
Bianka Martinez made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Lacee Engelbrecht was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ezra Busch, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Valley Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Bosqueville never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Bruceville-Eddy. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Carli Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Carly Collins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Bosqueville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Mills, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Valley Mills has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bosqueville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Valley Mills couldn't quite get it done against Bosqueville when the teams last played back in March as they fell 4-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
