AA District 12 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Giles County extended the longest winning streak in AA District 12 this week by beating Fairview, 24-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Giles County was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Yellowjackets. David O'Connor's team came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
The Bobcats' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Al Cobb threw for 131 and one touchdown and Kenton Baker had 51 yards receiving. On the ground Nieco Walker chipped in 149 yards. Walker helped Giles County's passing attack out by catching four balls for 51 yards.
Giles County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bobcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cobb has thrown for 1380 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Baker has 41 catches for 802 yards. Cobb also leads the league in rushing with 547 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Page takes on Hickman County. As it stands, the Patriots are in third, while the Bulldogs are in second.
Hickman County and Lewis County played the most hotly contested game in AA District 12 this week, with Hickman County eventually emerging with a 28-25 victory.
