Leelynd Durbin Has Career Rushing Day
Starting off the list is Flanagan/Woodland's Leelynd Durbin, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Durbin rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Flanagan/Woodland pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Durbin and Flanagan/Woodland will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Galva at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.

Austin Nelson Turns in Season-Best Effort
West Prairie/Southeastern was led to victory by Austin Nelson, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Nelson rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 112 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
Nelson is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Peoria Heights on Friday. Nelson rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries the last time he and Peoria Heights duked it out back in September of 2023.
