Cardinal Newman took down Chaminade-Madonna 40-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Daniel Cole threw for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns during the win.
King's Academy made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,651 from 4,809.
The Crusaders' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Erick Hardnett chipped in 75 yards. Travis Rudolph helped Cardinal Newman's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 61 yards.
He went 15-23 with 1 interception.
Hardnett was the most successful running back in 3A District 7 this week. He ran for 75 yards on 20 carries as Cardinal Newman beat the Lions. Teammate Collin Grill added to the ground attack by rushing for 14 yards.
Cardinal Newman's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cole has thrown for 1,777 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, while Rudolph has 57 catches for 1,165 yards.
Steve Walsh's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on Chaminade-Madonna. Cole in the win.
