Even though the Lake Weir Hurricanes scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, the West Port Wolf Pack still came out on top. West Port managed a 65-61 victory over Lake Weir. This was payback for West Port, who suffered a 74-61 loss the last time these two teams met.
West Port's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Luke, who scored 17 points. Demetrius Brown was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Smith, who scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amar Young, who scored 9 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
West Port's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Lake Weir, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
West Port will head out on the road to face off against Redeemer Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Weir, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Belleview at 7:00 p.m.
