It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Troup Tigers can now relate to. They lost to New Boston at home by a decisive 59-43 margin on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (38), Troup still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Troup saw an underclassman step up: Brett Wells rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also picked up 66 receiving yards. Trae Davis also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Troup's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for New Boston, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Troup does not have any more games scheduled as of now. New Boston will face off against Newton at TBD on Friday. Newton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully New Boston likes a good challenge.
