This season hasn't been kind to the Liberty Chargers, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They were beaten by Haines City 70-10 on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Liberty has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from India Smith, who scored four points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Genesis Rodriguez, who scored six points.
Leading Haines City to victory were Zebrelle Canaday and Arissa Jenkins. Canaday scored 21 points, while Jenkins scored 25 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Jenkins has scored at least 25% of Haines City's points. Amari Thomas was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Liberty's defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for Haines City, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Poinciana at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Poinciana is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Haines City won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lake Wales at 8:00 p.m. on January 4th. Lake Wales is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
