Gavin Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Exeter Township let Chase Youse and Carter Redding run wild. Youse went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run, while Redding went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Youse a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Hafer, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Conestoga Valley came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Braves.
Toby Schaub made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Schaub was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam McDowell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Thomas Livingston, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Conestoga Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Conestoga Valley pushed their record up to 11-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Exeter Township, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
