Holmes hasn't had much luck against Brennan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Huskies will welcome the Bears at 7:30 p.m. Holmes has given up an average of 41.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Holmes is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Harlan on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Huskies were dealt a 69-16 loss at the hands of the Hawks. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-3.

Despite the defeat, Holmes saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordan Conway Mitchell rushed for 183 yards and one score on only 15 carries. Those 183 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Conway Mitchell. Holmes also got a significant boost from Jayden Hopkins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.
Meanwhile, Brennan never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past Marshall 66-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.
Holmes better keep an eye on Cayden Glass. He was instrumental in Brennan's win, rushing for 49 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 106 yards and three touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Glass a new career-high. Micai Thompson was another key player, rushing for 109 yards and one score on only ten carries.
Brennan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Timothy Cummings picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Brennan's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Holmes, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Holmes has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brennan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Holmes was dealt a bruising 72-7 defeat at the hands of Brennan in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thompson, who rushed for 145 yards and five TDs on only ten carries.
