Williams Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on Minersville with a sharp 56-35 victory. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on six straight.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Brady Shomper and Dante Carr. Shomper had a great game and threw for 185 yards and four TDs on only ten passes. Meanwhile, Carr was balling out in the loss, rushing for 144 yards and one score while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 222 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Schuylkill Haven over Northern Lehigh in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Hurricanes blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 60-7 final score. With the Hurricanes ahead 40-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Williams Valley better keep an eye on Colton Reber. He was instrumental in Schuylkill Haven's win, rushing for 395 yards and five TDs on only ten carries. Reber's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Niko Castillo was another key player, gaining 102 total yards and two touchdowns.
Schuylkill Haven was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 543 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
One reason for the win was Schuylkill Haven's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Castillo and Reber, who racked up four sacks between them. Reber's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 140 rushing yards.
Williams Valley's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Schuylkill Haven, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Williams Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 264.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Schuylkill Haven struggles in that department as they've been averaging 370.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Williams Valley ended up a good deal behind Schuylkill Haven when the teams last played back in September, losing 43-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Reber, who rushed for 165 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 44 receiving yards and one touchdown.
