The Heritage Hills Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Vincennes Lincoln Alices at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage Hills is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Heritage Hills had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Washington on Wednesday. The Patriots blew past the Hatchets 16-0.
Haley Fisher and Miriam Gordon made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Fisher struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Gordon tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Fisher scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Gordon went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Kiegel, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Mayci Litherland was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Heritage Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Vincennes Lincoln hadn't beaten Princeton on the road since April 5, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Alices walked away with a 10-7 win over the Tigers.
Matti Collins was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Kahre McCrary also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
The victory got Vincennes Lincoln back to even at 2-2. As for Heritage Hills, their record is now 3-0.
Vincennes Lincoln's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Heritage Hills has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Vincennes Lincoln, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Heritage Hills' sizable advantage in that area, the Alices will need to find a way to close that gap.
