Friday just wasn't the day for the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers's offense. They were beaten by Edmund Burke Academy 35-0. Augusta Prep Day's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it seven in a row.
Carter Chavous threw for 102 yards on only seven passes. Conar Harris was his top target, picking up 102 receiving yards.
It was another big night for Grant Mobley, who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes. Mobley really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.
Augusta Prep Day's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Bulloch Academy and 10-0 Bethlehem Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.6% over those games). As for Edmund Burke Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-1.
Augusta Prep Day will be playing at home against Fullington Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Fullington Academy is ranked 455th, while Augusta Prep Day is ranked 443rd). As for Edmund Burke Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Briarwood Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Briarwood Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
