Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Glenns Ferry's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Glenns Ferry was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Horseshoe Bend on Monday. The Pilots never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Pilots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Taylor Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 14 matches.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Stewart, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kwinn King was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Glenns Ferry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horseshoe Bend only posted an OBP of .167.

Glenns Ferry has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12 runs. As for Horseshoe Bend, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Glenns Ferry wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-4 loss against Melba on the 29th. As for Horseshoe Bend, they have also already played their next game, a 20-10 defeat against Idaho City on the 30th.
