Grace Prep has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Covenant Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 64 points the game before, Grace Prep were a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 13-12 to Trinity Christian. While losing is never fun, Grace Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 891st, while Trinity Christian is ranked 297th).
Despite the defeat, Grace Prep had strong showings from Kaden Lehew, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, and Dominiq Vann, who picked up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last match, Covenant Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Lake Country Christian on Friday. Covenant Christian really took it to Lake Country Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 win at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Covenant Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John David Black led the charge by throwing for 351 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.3% of his passes. Noah Hill did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 153 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Trinity Christian's victory bumped their season record to 7-1 while Grace Prep's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Grace Prep took their win against Covenant Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 46-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grace Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
