The Kirkwood Cobras will venture away from home to take on the Springfield Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Kirkwood took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Todd County Central 12-2. The Cobras not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 21-3).
Cole Johnson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mathew Dirks, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Kirkwood is undefeated when Dirks posts two or more runs, but 0-15 otherwise. Andruw West also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Kirkwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Todd County Central only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Springfield can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Pearl-Cohn.
Kelton Hollingsworth made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Connor Reeves was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Austin Tucker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Kirkwood's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-15. As for Springfield, their record is now 7-18.
