Preston is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will face off against the Century Diamondbacks at 3:30 p.m. Preston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Preston will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Sugar-Salem on Friday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Diggers. Considering the Indians have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Levi Despain made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matchups. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Conner Thomson and Ezra Benevidez did most of the damage at the plate: Thomson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Benevidez went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Benevidez has become a key player for Preston: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5-1 otherwise. Treston Day was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Century was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Skyline, falling 15-5.
Daeton Poulson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
Preston now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Century, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Preston skirted past Century 5-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
