Lenoir City hasn't had much luck against Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will square off against the Mountaineers at 6:30 p.m. Lenoir City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Lenoir City beat Soddy Daisy 6-3.
Kymbal Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kylee Hanson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Reagan Helton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Heritage came tearing into Monday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wildcats 13-3. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Autumn Brooke Perrin, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Gennoe, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Lenoir City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage, they pushed their record up to 25-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both Lenoir City and Heritage just can't seem to miss. The Panthers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lenoir City couldn't quite get it done against Heritage in their previous matchup on Wednesday as they fell 4-1. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
