Softball Recap: Barren County Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Barren County never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Grayson County Cougars with a sharp 17-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Adley Cunningham looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaitie Elmore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Briley Aidala, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Barren County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Barren County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Grayson County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barren County will face off against Clinton County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grayson County, they will square off against Hart County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
