Natalie Weidner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Berwick suffered their biggest loss since April 20, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Hazleton Area, falling 16-6. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Emma Welsh was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgan Siegel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Even though they lost, Berwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Berwick now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hanover Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hanover Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .450. However, it's not like Berwick struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hanover Area might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Berwick in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Hanover Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
