3A Region II District 14 recap September 17, 2013
Kaufman moved up to 412 from 466 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region II District 14. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Palestine 34-28.
Wills Point lost to Ferris 24-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Kaufman's dynamic duo of Clay Rhodes and Cameron Duncan proved to be unstoppable against the Wildcats, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rhodes threw for 66 yards and Duncan had 50 yards receiving.
Todd York's team's dynamic duo of Rhodes and Duncan proved tough for Palestine to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Duncan was the best receiver in the league this week as the Lions lost to Lance Angel's team.
Jon Humphries was the best running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 155 yards as Ford lost to the Wildcats. Teammate Weston McCluskey added to the ground attack by rushing for 64 yards.
Humphries provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers bested Mabank.
Rhodes put up the best numbers in passing as the Lions lost to Palestine.
Kaufman's Rhodes and Duncan have formed a dream team this season, leading 3A Region II District 14 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Rhodes has thrown for 276 yards this season, while Duncan has 11 catches for 139 yards. Humphries from Ford leads the league in rushing with 503 yards.
The Lions made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,959 from 4,442. The advance stemmed from a 34-28 victory over Kaufman last week.
