The Patriot Prep Academy Eagles couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by Maumee Valley Country Day at home and fell 82-47. Patriot Prep Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-22.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Seward, who scored 7 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Thomas, who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Patriot Prep Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maumee Valley Country Day only pulled down 12.
Maumee Valley Country Day was led to victory by Keeran Stokes and Amani-Jordan Chandran-Dickerson. Stokes went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 3 assists, while Chandran-Dickerson scored 29 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Christian Majors was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Patriot Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Patriot Prep Academy will head out on the road to face off against Wellington School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Wellington School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, they will square off against Miami Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Miami Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Maumee Valley Country Day is ranked first).
