Baseball Recap: Doherty Starts Season with Victory at Home

Doherty took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They blew past the Coronado Cougars 16-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Doherty got a massive performance out of Brody Noll, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Noll a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Settle, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Doherty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted an OBP of .333.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Doherty will host Lewis-Palmer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coronado, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Air Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
