The East Rowan Mustangs will head out to take on the Cox Mill Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Rowan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
East Rowan's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Carson by a score of 4-0. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won nine in a row.
Not much got past Harrison Ailshie, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Carson off the board. Ailshie also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East Rowan is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.
On the hitting side, East Rowan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Ailshie, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Cox Mill entered their tilt with A.L. Brown on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Wonders.
Jackson Caldwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Cox Mill let Tyler Cartee and Dillon Alves run wild. Cartee scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Alves got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Cartee a new career-high in hits. Tyler Hicks was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
East Rowan's record now sits at 4-2. As for Cox Mill, their record now sits at 3-1.
East Rowan beat Cox Mill 10-5 in their previous matchup back in March of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Rowan since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
