Newton is 10-0 against Lake since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Newton Tigers will be playing at home against the Lake Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Newton will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Newton posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 71-29 victory over Clarkdale. Given Newton's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Clarkdale is ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Lake came up short against McLaurin on Tuesday and fell 56-44. Lake has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Newton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Lake, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Newton was able to grind out a solid win over Lake in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 61-52. Does Newton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
