This season hasn't been kind to The San Marcos Rattlers, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 45-14 loss at the hands of New Braunfels. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for San Marcos in their matchups with New Braunfels: they've now lost eight in a row.
Tyree Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew for New Braunfels as he rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Johnson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run.
San Marcos' loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Steele and 9-3 Brandeis (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.9% over those games). As for New Braunfels, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
