In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmeline Patton, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah McKinney, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Coalfield entered their match against Anderson County on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Yellow Jackets took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks.
Madison Jackson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Wilson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
Coalfield's loss dropped their record down to 18-4-2. As for Oliver Springs, their record is now 9-11.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oliver Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Coalfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oliver Springs suffered a grim 17-11 defeat to Coalfield in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
