The Bishop Ward Cyclones will head out on the road to take on the Heritage Christian Academy Chargers on Friday. Heritage Christian Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bishop Ward, who comes in off a win.
Last Monday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Bishop Ward made off with a 53-52 win over Maranatha Christian Academy. Given Bishop Ward's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Maranatha Christian Academy is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Heritage Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 73-58 bruising from Bishop Seabury Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bishop Ward is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 8-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Bishop Ward couldn't quite finish off Heritage Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 and fell 54-52. Can Bishop Ward avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
