The St. Stephens Indians suffered their closest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Hickory by a score of 47-45. St. Stephens has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Molli Harris, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Harris is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Blevins, who scored ten points along with two steals.
St. Stephens struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
St. Stephens has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Hickory, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
St. Stephens will be playing at home against Statesville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Statesville comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Hickory, they will head out on the road to face off against Foard at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Foard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
