The Dobson Mustangs can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They blew past Red Mountain 57-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Dobson has posted since November 29, 2023.
Dobson was led to victory by Jaziah Billey and Ahdiayh Chee. Billey scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals, while Chee scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chee has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Fonseca, who scored three points along with three steals.
Red Mountain's loss came despite strong showings from Makaia Jenkins and Payton Westra. Jenkins scored ten points, while Westra scored four points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Westra has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played.
Dobson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 46 points. As for Red Mountain, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dobson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday. Red Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Mesa is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
