Division VI recap Oct. 3, 2012
Newfound Regional extended the longest winning streak in Division VI this week by beating Gilford, 36-18. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Bears.
Franklin made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,281 from 10,232. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 33-29 victory over Campbell last week.
Newfound Regional's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jared Dearborn threw for 194 and three touchdowns and Jake Dearborn had 106 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Maviki chipped in 172 yards. Devin Fields helped Newfound Regional's passing attack out by catching three balls for 42 yards.
Nick Tapply made the biggest impact on defense this week as Greg Dalzell's team topped the Golden Eagles. The junior grabbed two sacks.
Newfound Regional's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dearborn has thrown for 662 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Fields has 16 catches for 243 yards. Maviki leads the league in rushing with 1003 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Winnisquam takes on Campbell. At the moment, the Bears are in second, while Paul Hickey's team is in fourth.
