The Santa Fe Indians's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 67-58 win over Manvel. The victory was all the more spectacular given Santa Fe's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 777th, while Manvel is ranked 293rd).
Santa Fe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaidan Mata out in front who scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mata has scored all season. Ryland Chambless was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds.
Santa Fe's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-15. As for Manvel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-16.
Santa Fe will be playing at home against La Porte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in La Porte's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Manvel, they will head out on the road to challenge Texas City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Texas City will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
